Building useful systems in the open

Notes on the operating choices, prototypes, and constraints behind an independent AI automation agency.

First website, and the inquiry workflow behind it

This is the first Old Oak Labs website. It exists to make the offer clear: diagnose an operational bottleneck, design a controlled workflow, deploy a focused system, and improve it around real work.

The first workflow being designed is inquiry handling — the same shape shown in the demo. A structured intake template and a rule-based demonstration of it have been prepared. Neither is a settled day-to-day routine yet, and the automation around them has not been activated. Inquiries arriving today are read and answered by me directly.

The contact form on this site deliberately does not submit anywhere. It composes an email in your own mail app and you send it. That keeps the site simple, avoids storing anyone's details in a system I have not yet chosen, and means there is no server-side form process to explain in a privacy notice.

The demo is a simulation. It uses deterministic rules and synthetic examples to show the shape of the workflow and its human approval point. It does not use a live model.

What's next: finishing the intake template and missing-information checklist, and deciding what the record of each inquiry should look like before automating any of it. The order matters — automating an undocumented process just makes the confusion faster.

These notes document Old Oak Labs' own operating workflow as it develops. The demo remains a synthetic illustration rather than a customer case study.
